Ministries: Worship & Prayer: Readers / Lectors

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. [Acts 2:42]

Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them" [Book of Common Prayer, p. 236]

The Bible is our foundation, understood through tradition and reason, containing all things necessary for salvation. Our worship is filled with Scripture from beginning to end. Our readers are an important part communicating the Old and New Testament Lessons as a part of our service.

Readers read the lessons assigned for the day. There are usually two readers for each Sunday service. If you enjoy speaking in front of people and appreciate the wisdom of the Scriptures, you may feel called to serve as a Lector.

If you are reading, you might find this pronunciation guide to be helpful.
