Vestry Ministry
The Vestry is the governing body of the Parish and consists of the Rector (Priest-in-Charge) as Chairman, a Senior Warden, a Junior Warden, treasurer, clerk and six - nine Vestry persons. Two to three members are elected at the Annual Meeting each year in late January for three-year terms.

The Vestry transacts all temporal business of the Parish and has control of all its property and assists the clergy in ministering to the pastoral needs of the Parish. The Vestry elects the Rector and approves all other assistant ministers. Once elected, all ministers, staff, and others of the parish serve at the pleasure of the Rector.

Members of the Vestry must be communicants in good standing, aged 18 years or older, and have been active in the Parish for at least six months.

While the Vestry may delegate various responsibilities (such as to the Finance and Budget Committee), the Vestry remains responsible for all temporal activities of the Parish.

All vestry members make the following time commitments:

  • Vestry meetings, committee work;
  • Vestry retreat(s);
  • Weekly worship services;
  • Congregational events: coffee hours, meals, fundraisers, adult education programs, etc.;
  • Diocesan meetings, as necessary;
  • Annual meeting.

Expectations:

  • Support the Rector (Priest-in-Charge) in providing vision and leadership for the parish.
  • Support the life of the church through regular giving, worship, participation, and prayer for the church and its mission.
  • Model the Christian life of discipleship by proclaiming the good news in word and deed.
  • Have a willingness to represent the interests of all parish members.
  • Exercise confidentiality and practice healthy, honest, open communication patterns in the parish.
