Ministries: Outreach: Light Up the Rez!

I was a stranger and you welcomed me:

There are over 15,000 homes on the Navajo reservation that are “off the grid” and without electricity. Isn’t it a shame that people right here in Arizona still live in third World conditions.

Mylo Fowler is doing something about it — one home at a time.  Mylo is Navajo and grew up on the reservation doing his homework by the light of a kerosene lantern in a house without running water. Today, Mylo is a world famous photographer whose photos have been featured in Arizona Highways.  He uses his work to fund solar panels and batteries that provide lights for Navajo homes that are off the electric grid. [This is lights only, not enough electricity to power appliances.]

The hardware that provides lights for one home costs about $250. Mylo and his friends do the installation for free. The Outreach Committee hoped to is raise money to light up 10 homes in 2019 but has received enough to light over 50!
