¿Cómo se dice?
How do you say?
How many times have you wanted to say to a Spanish speaking parishioner, friend, neighbor, co-worker, or employee, just the simple things that folks say to each other, but felt stifled by the language barrier? Do you wish you could communicate better?
We all have an opportunity to learn each other’s language in a new bilingual Spanish-English conversational class that begins on Thursday, September 9th at 6:30 p.m. The class will cost $35 for materials which will last for the entire academic year. Come and join in and have some fun as we learn to know each other better and speak another language in the bargain!
Godly Play
What is Godly Play?
Godly Play is a method
of Christian education and spiritual direction for pre school children. It
was developed and classroom tested for more than 20 years and is currently being
used in churches of many denominations throughout the United States and
Canada. It's goal is to teach children the art of using religious language
in parable,
sacred story, silence, and liturgical action- to help them become more
fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives.
In Godly play, we tell stories in such a way that children are encouraged to enter into the stories and relate them to their personal experience. After a Bible Story is told to the students, the storyteller and children use "wondering questions" to reflect on the story together. Then each child chooses whether to respond to story with art materials or play. The most important thing we teach in Godly Play Center is how Christian people live and work together in community.
After the session, the children are escorted back to Middleton Hall where they may be picked up by their parents. All children will worship with their families the first Sunday of every month.
